I always get asked about routines and ways to incorporate essential oils on a daily basis!
One of the easiest ways to use your essential oils, is to see them! I find if they are packed away in pretty boxes, they can sometimes get missed, just because they are not in view.
It also makes it super handy to be able to grab them at anytime. I installed our shelf between the kitchen and bathroom, and It makes it an easy spot for the whole family to grab any oil they need.
First we need a shelf, I had this idea in my head for awhile. I wanted a simple, modern shelf that had that Australian modern beach vibe I love. I’m super happy how this turned out and is a DIY anyone can do!

What You Need
- 2 Lengths of 42x19mm @ 2.4m lengths – $7.74 each ($15.48)
- A Nail Gun or if you don’t have a nail gun you screws or nails and hammer
- Wood Glue
- Wood filler (to fill the nail holes)
- light weight sand paper
- heavy weight picture hooks or you can opt to screw straight into the wall
- 2 x 733mm
- 7 x 400mm
- Drop Saw or you can use a handsaw or even ask you local Bunnings to cut these for you.
First make all your cuts
Assemble on a flat surface.
The spacing between each shelf is 10cm, so Steve cut 2, 10cm spacers. This is a great tip to keep the spacing even between the shelves.
Start at the top and nail the side shelf into the top and repeat on the other side. For added support add a little bit of wood glue between all the joins before you nail them together.
Once the shelf is assembled, fill all the nail holes with wood filler and let dry.
Give the entire shelf a light sand. I have opted not to stain mine, but you could give it a stain or paint of your choice.
Lastly fix it to the wall. We used picture ‘teeth’ to hide any fixings into the wall. We also added a few screws underneath and the bottom for added support.
Last bit, is to organise your oil collection!
